Job Description

Blink Charging is looking for a proactive and hands-on Financial Controller to support the Finance team in the Netherlands and with the growth into Europe. To be successful in this role, you should be a driven, ambitious individual who can help take our finance department to the next level. You will use your financial expertise, commercial savvy, attention to detail and excellent communication skills to raise the team’s profile internally and become a reliable central pillar of Blink Charging Europe’s operations.

You will also bring your background in financial planning and administration to help make the Finance Team a center of excellence, defining best practice and the way we work as Blink Europe expands our operations across the continent. The Finance Team collaborates closely with our global internal stakeholders to design and execute processes, tooling, along with setting and reporting against budgets, ensuring that we meet all statutory requirements and internal requirements. You will be a driver in creating, applying, and delivering consistent standards and improvements in our financial operations.

Responsibilities

As Financial Controller you play a key role in the smooth running of the financial administration of both the Blink Holding and the Dutch operating company.

  • You are responsible for maintaining the complete accounting activities of our two Dutch entities, with responsibilities potentially expanding across new EU entities in the coming years.
  • You will regularly interact with stakeholders in the US, Belgium, and the UK to create a seamless accounting process that will lead to improved customer experience and satisfied (internal) customers.
  • You will establish and maintain all necessary internal controls.
  • You will identify and help to implement improvement projects. Our entities are growing and developing rapidly so there is always room to use your initiative to get things done.
  • You will undertake regular checks on the accuracy and completeness of all financial figures.
  • You will draft and process invoices and handle employee expenses.
  • You will be responsible for the quarterly VAT filings of both Dutch entities.
  • As a day-to-day activity, you can expect to work on financial reports, balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, budgets, annual accounts, and multi-year plans.
  • You will maintain the general overview of the European entities, including intercompany balances.
  • You will support in setting up and maintaining transfer pricing practices.

Qualifications

  • HBO or WO level of education
  • A minimum 5 years of experience as an accountant, financial controller or general accounting. A few years of experience in financial auditing is a plus.
  • Experience with Dutch GAAP is required. In addition,knowledge of US GAAP is preferred.
  • Capable of effectively managing administrative tasks.
  • Experience with tax related subjects is a plus.
  • Experience with closing books and creating financial statements.
  • Driven by optimizing, digitizing, and automating processes, delivering tangible improvements for the team and our stakeholders.
  • Proactivity and initiative: taking on responsibilities, setting priorities, and respecting deadlines.
  • Hands-on and pragmatic with genuine attention to detail

Hard Skills

  • Language skills: native/fluent Dutch and English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, focused on both internal (Blink employees) and external stakeholders (our customers)
  • Office 365 and/or other collaborative tools
  • Ease working with ERP programmes, knowledge of NetSuite is a plus
