Seven new charging stations for electric vehicles are installed by the Region of Central Macedonia in all Regional Units (7/9/2020)
The Region of Central Macedonia is leading in the field of electrification and the development of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, by installing one charging station in the capital of each Regional Unit.
As the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas, notes, “green growth is a key element of the policy we are implementing in the Region of Central Macedonia. With these actions, we focus on e-mobility and we enhance the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, taking another important step in order to improve the daily lives of citizens, the quality of life in the city, the air quality and to contribute to the noise reduction. With the creation of seven new Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles, we are steadily investing in a better and sustainable urban fabric for residents and visitors. After all, our goal is a green Central Macedonia, an even more environmentally friendly region”.
In the framework of the strategy of the Region of Central Macedonia for Green Growth and following the decision to update its fleet with electric vehicles for official needs, the Deputy Regional Minister of Infrastructure and Networks, Mr. Paris Bilias, and the representative of the company Blink Charging Hellas, Mr. G. Kalavrouziotis, signed a cooperation agreement for the supply, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of chargers for electric vehicles.
Through this cooperation, the Region of Central Macedonia develops a reliable network of infrastructure that covers both the wider region and the passing drivers needing to charge their electric vehicles. At the same time, it creates the supporting framework for all seven Regional Units and 38 Municipalities, in order for them to respond quickly to the provision of the relevant legislation for the preparation of Electric Vehicle Charging Plans, aiming at the location of parking and recharging points of electric vehicles, thus enhancing, supporting and promoting eMobility in the wider area.
At the same time, the Region of Central Macedonia becomes the first Region in the country with the appropriate, friendly to the electric vehicle tourism infrastructure after the completion of the said facilities. With the development of electric mobility in the region, the largest and second in population Region in Greece automatically becomes a tourist hub for the whole country, but also a pole of attraction for drivers of electric vehicles, thus strengthening entrepreneurship, economy, employment and green growth in the wider region.
