How to Charge Your EV

Blink Charging offers fast and reliable home charging solutions that are innovative and put the drivers’ needs first.

Blink Charging App

  1. Open the Blink Charging App: The map will show your location automatically. Or enter the charger’s unit number manually. 

  2. Plug in your EV: Take the connector and plug it into your vehicle’s charging port. 

  3. Start Charging: Tap “Check In” in the app and follow the prompts to set your preferences and payment. 

  4. Track Progress: The app shows your charging status in real time. 

  5. End Session 

  6. Tap “Stop” in the app when you're done, and return the connector to its holder.

RFID/Payment Card

  1. Make sure your Blink RFID card is activated and linked to your account. 

  2. Plug the connector into your EV’s charging port. 

  3. When prompted, hold your RFID card against the reader to start charging.

  1. Plug the connector into your EV’s charging port. 

  2. Tap or insert your card at the charger’s payment terminal. 

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin charging. 

How to Charge on Blink Chargers

Each Blink charger has its own features. Learn how to use each one:

Series 7

  1. Plug in: Plug in your car and take note of the charger ID you are using. 

  2. Start your charge: 

    • Blink Charging App: Search for and select the unit you are using. Click “Check In” and follow the instructions to set up your charge. 

    • Blink RFID: Hold your card against the card reader. 

  3. End the Session & Unplug: When you have finished charging, end your charge in the same way it was started, using the app or RFID. Unplug your vehicle and return the plug to the charger.

Do I need to be a Blink Member to charge with Blink?

Anyone can use a public Blink charging station; no membership is necessary. If you’re not a Blink member, simply download the Blink Charging App to initiate a charge session as a guest. However, becoming a Blink Member comes with valuable benefits. Blink makes driving electric easier—with thousands of public stations and exclusive member perks like:

  • Discounted rates at public Blink stations.

  • No authorization fees.

  • Pay-as-you-go flexibility.

  • Full access to account history and charging activity.

Joining is free and gives you more control, savings, and convenience every time you charge.

Drivers have multiple options to access and start charging sessions at public Blink EV chargers: through the Blink Charging App, the Blink membership card, or the automated pay-by-phone system for Series X chargers. Additionally, using the credit card reader available on select charging stations.

In North America, Blink Level 2 charging stations are compatible with all electric vehicles that use the J1772 plug, which is standard on all North American vehicles. The Blink units can also charge Tesla model vehicles with the Tesla/NACS adapter available directly through Tesla. For DC Fast Chargers, please check your vehicle manual for compatibility with standard CCS, CHAdeMO and NACS connectors.

The length of time necessary to charge an EV depends on the station amperage, starting battery level, and vehicle model. A Level 2 charging station may deliver 25-50 miles of range per charging hour.
