How Blink Care Keeps Your EV Chargers Working Day and Night

Posted 08/01/2024

One of the biggest frustrations for electric vehicle drivers is when a charging station does not work. Sometimes, it’s because technology has advanced so much that first-generation equipment now requires upgrades. It’s a scenario many EV drivers dread—an unexpected halt in your journey due to malfunctioning or outdated charging infrastructure.

This common headache is precisely why the Blink Care preventative maintenance program was put into play. Aimed at keeping both Level 2 and DC fast charging stations in prime condition, Blink Care is here to ensure that your charging experience is as smooth and reliable as possible. In this post, we’ll explore how Blink Care is set to revolutionize your EV charging routine and what you need to know to stay charged up and on the move.

Blink Care Paves the Way for EV Charging Station Maintenance

For Level 2 chargers, including the IQ 200, Series 7, and Series 8, Blink Care includes detailing, inspections, and testing twice per year.

  • Testing of the equipment via plug-in simulator or electric vehicle.

  • Visual inspection and documentation for any damage on the equipment, including scratches and nicks.

Why Blink Care Matters

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) estimates that 28 million EV charging ports will be needed by 2030, including 2.1 million commercial Level 2 chargers and 182,000 DCFC. As electric vehicles expand from Early Adopters into the mass market, reliable EV charging stations are essential. Blink is committed to providing flexible solutions for businesses and governments installing EV chargers. Blink Care makes it easier to scale up your location’s commercial EV charging while providing the best charging experience for your drivers. By combining Blink Care with an extended Blink Warranty, all Blink site hosts can now offer EV charging as an amenity, with less worry about station reliability.

What Is Covered in a Blink Charging Station Contract?

Blink offers four types of contracts for businesses, governments, and fleets that want to install commercial EV charging stations.

The spectrum of Blink's Flexible Business Models for EV charging. On the left side, Host Pays All Costs. On the Right, Blink Pays All Costs. In order from left to right are Host Owned, Blink as a Service, Hybrid, and Blink Owned.

On one end of the spectrum is Blink Owned, available for select high-traffic locations, in which Blink provides installation, equipment, and ongoing maintenance. On the other end of the spectrum is Host Owned, in which site hosts purchase and install Blink charging stations. With Host Owned contracts, hosts must manage their own planning, site preparation, installation, maintenance, and ongoing administrative decisions such as pricing and access. Between these two ends of the spectrum are the Blink as a Service and Blink Hybrid Owned business models, which offer a blend of Host Owned and Blink Owned features.

While many site hosts want to own their charging stations, they also want a maintenance program that makes station ownership easier. Blink Care paves the way to do just that.
