As we enter World EV Month, Blink wishes to take the opportunity to celebrate EV drivers and understand your journey. Throughout the month of September, we celebrate a number of holidays related to electric vehicles and electrification: World EV Day on September 9, National Drive Electric Month from September 12 to October 12, International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16, and Zero Emissions Day on September 21. This year, we’re highlighting stories from real EV drivers who have experienced true change with an electric vehicle and helping those wishing to take the next step.
Why EV?
There are many reasons to go electric, as we highlighted last National Drive Electric Week (now National Drive Electric Month). Some of these reasons include:
Driving electric vehicles reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helping meet emission reduction targets.
Transitioning to EVs reduces air pollution, particularly in urban areas with high traffic.
Choosing an EV enhances community resilience to climate change by reducing tailpipe emissions.
EVs reduce noise pollution, contributing to a quieter and more peaceful environment for everyone.
In some areas, EVs are allowed to use bus lanes or have access to priority parking spots, which can significantly reduce commute times and parking stress.
Embracing electric mobility in the U.S. is key to reducing reliance on foreign fuels and making the most of domestically produced electricity.
EVs offer lower maintenance costs over time, making them a smart choice for both your wallet and the environment.
Electric vehicles offer more than just sustainability; they also offer savings and convenience.
The EV Lifestyle
Some people wonder if EVs are “just a trend” or claim that EV range “limits freedom of travel.” But electric vehicles support a modern lifestyle that includes work, staycation, and vacation.
In preparation for World EV Day, our global team shared their thoughts on driving their EVs:
